Since we’re expecting more snow here this weekend, I wanted to share my essentials for a snow day. Of course there are a few things you need to really enjoy a good snow day: something for playing in the snow, and a few things to warm up with after you’ve enjoyed your time outside.
I gathered up a few fun toys for your time in the snow. From snowman kits to a classic sled, there’s a little something for everyone.

Once your done with the snow, you’ll need to warm up. A few items to help you get cozy:
A great mug for cocoa
A snow day calls for hot cocoa, so I thought I would share my recipe. I mention using dark cocoa powder, but regular is fine to use if that’s what you have on hand.

Hot Cocoa
Ingredients
- 8 oz milk
- 2 tbsp dark cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch salt
- assorted toppings optional
Instructions
-
Heat milk in a saucepan over medium low heat.
-
Add in sugar, cocoa, and salt and stir with a whisk until the cocoa dissolves and the milk becomes frothy.
-
Remove from heat and add in vanilla.
-
Pour into a mug and top with marshmallows and/or whipped cream. Caramel sauce, chocolate shavings, or crushed candy cane make great toppings, too.
