Brilee turned 9 last August, (I’m really behind in posting this) and we threw her a Beauty & the Beast birthday party. She doesn’t like characters all over everything, so we based the theme on Belle’s ball gown and the enchanted rose. Basically, lots of gold, pops of red, and plenty of glitter.
White chocolate ganache dripped over the sides and then painted on edible gold dust created a really stunning detail on the cake. I used this tutorial on YouTube that shows how to create this look with icing in more detail. After that, I snipped the stems off a dozen roses and just slid the ends under the cake.
This rose garland was the main decoration for the table because the cake already had so much going on. I hung strips of gold crepe paper to cover the green plastic vine. Brilee chose the party menu, so we had roast beef sandwiches (from Arby’s per her request), PB&Js, and chips 🙂
She also really loves macarons, so we added those to the menu, too.
These watercolor macarons were so fun to paint and it made them feel a little more special since they were store-bought. I’ll do a tutorial on how I watercolored these soon.
Thankfully, the weather was beautiful and we were able to have a pool party as planned.
As I write this, Brilee is now closer to turning 10 years old than she is to when she turned 9. Hold me!
